Prayers of the Faithful — Second Sunday of Christmas
Priest: Brothers and sisters,
as we continue to celebrate the mystery of the Word made flesh,
let us bring our prayers before the Father,
who has chosen to dwell among His people.
That the Church may faithfully proclaim Christ, the eternal Word made flesh,
and help the world to recognise and receive the light He brings.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.
That the light of Christ may shine in places of darkness, division, and fear,
bringing truth, justice, and peace to all nations and peoples.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.
That families may welcome Christ into their homes,
grow in faith, forgiveness, and love,
and become places where the Word of God is heard and lived.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.
For those who feel distant from God,
for the lonely, the anxious, and the weary:
that the Lord who has come to dwell among us
may draw close to them and strengthen them with hope.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.
For those who have died,
especially those of our parish and families:
that they may be brought into the fullness of light and life
in the presence of God for ever.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.
Let us now pause in silence
and place our own needs and intentions
before the Lord who dwells among us.
(silence)
Together we ask the prayers of Mary,
in whose womb the Word became flesh:
Hail Mary…
Priest: Father of light and mercy, You sent Your Son to dwell among us
and to make us Your children.
Hear the prayers we have offered in faith
and grant them according to Your will.
Through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
