Simple Catholic Resources for Prayer, Learning and Sacramental Preparation
Our parish apps provide simple, accessible ways to pray, learn the Catholic faith and support sacramental preparation.
They are free browser-based resources. Select the app you need and open it on a telephone, tablet or computer. You do not need to work through every app.
Some are intended for personal prayer and Catholic learning. Others accompany the parish preparation books used for Baptism, Confession, Holy Communion, Confirmation, marriage and reception into the Church.
Apps can be helpful, but they cannot replace:
- Sunday Mass
- Personal prayer
- The sacraments
- Family conversation
- A preparation book or catechism
- A parent or parish mentor
- Personal accompaniment by the parish
- The priest’s discernment of sacramental readiness
Use them calmly and at a suitable pace. Understanding, prayer and a sincere Catholic life matter more than completing screens or reaching the end quickly.
Prayer and Devotion
Pray One Decade of the Rosary
A simple companion for praying the Rosary one decade at a time. It provides the mysteries for each day and can help someone who is learning the Rosary or beginning a manageable daily habit.
The Rosary leads us to contemplate the life of Jesus Christ with the Blessed Virgin Mary. A single decade prayed attentively is better than many prayers rushed without thought.
365 Daily Saints
Discover a saint for every day of the year, together with a short quotation or reflection.
The saints show what the grace of God can accomplish in people from different countries, centuries and ways of life. Their example encourages us to seek holiness in our own circumstances.
The Interior Castle with St Teresa of Avila
This devotional app introduces St Teresa’s image of the soul as an interior castle containing seven mansions.
It is intended for quiet reflection and growth in mental prayer. Move through it slowly. The spiritual life is not a race through stages, and prayer should remain centred upon friendship with Jesus Christ.
Catholic Devotional Screen
A gentle display of short Catholic quotations and reflections which may be used during quiet prayer, private reflection or as a background devotional screen.
It should encourage prayer rather than become another distraction. Pause over one sentence and allow it to lead you towards God.

Learning the Catholic Faith
Learn the Apostles’ Creed
The Apostles’ Creed is a short and ancient summary of Christian belief. It is used particularly in the Rosary, at Baptism and at certain celebrations of Mass.
This app helps you learn the Creed while also considering the meaning of the words being professed.
Learn the Nicene Creed
The Nicene Creed is normally professed at Sunday Mass and on solemnities. It expresses the Church’s faith in the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
This app uses flashcards and a study guide to help you learn the Creed word by word and understand its principal teachings.
Apps for Sacramental Preparation
Please Begin with the Parish
A sacramental-preparation app is an additional teaching resource. It is not a separate online course through which someone can arrange or qualify for a sacrament.
Before beginning preparation, please contact the parish so that we can:
- Listen to your circumstances
- Confirm the correct pathway
- Check Baptism and previous sacraments where necessary
- Provide the appropriate preparation book
- Arrange support from a parent or parish mentor
- Explain the place of Sunday Mass and prayer
- Consider readiness personally
- Arrange the sacrament at the appropriate stage
Completing an app does not book a sacrament, determine readiness or guarantee a particular date.
Children and Families
Baptism of a Baby or Young Child
For parents and godparents preparing for the Baptism of an infant or young child.
The app accompanies the parish preparation book and explores the meaning of Baptism, the promises made by parents and godparents, the signs used in the rite and the Christian life which should follow.

Christian Initiation for an Unbaptised Child Aged Seven or Over
For an unbaptised child who has reached the age of reason and wishes to become a Catholic.
A child aged seven or over requires personal preparation for Christian initiation. The app supports the child, family and mentor, but the correct pathway must first be established by the parish priest.

Reception of a Baptised Child into the Catholic Church
For a child aged seven or over who has already received a valid Christian Baptism outside the Catholic Church and is preparing to enter full communion.

First Confession
For a baptised Catholic child preparing to receive the Sacrament of Penance and Reconciliation for the first time.

The app supports teaching about the Mass, the Real Presence, transubstantiation, worthy reception, reverence and thanksgiving.

Confirmation for Young People
For baptised Catholic young people preparing to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation.
The app accompanies My Confirmation Catechism and explores the Holy Spirit, the gifts and fruits, Christian initiation, the rite of Confirmation, witness, mission and continuing Catholic life.
Confirmation is not an automatic school-year event or graduation from the Church. Preparation is personal and based upon understanding, desire, Catholic practice and readiness.

Adult Pathways
Becoming Catholic
For an unbaptised adult exploring the Catholic faith and the possibility of receiving Baptism, Confirmation and the Holy Eucharist.
The app accompanies the parish catechumenate. It provides teaching and questions, but becoming Catholic also requires prayer, Sunday Mass, personal accompaniment and the Church’s liturgical journey.
OPEN THE BECOMING CATHOLIC APP

Reception into Full Communion
For a validly baptised adult Christian who is considering being received into full communion with the Catholic Church.
The app explores Catholic teaching, sacramental life and the distinctive questions which may arise from another Christian background.

Adult Confirmation
For a baptised Catholic adult who has received First Holy Communion but has not yet received Confirmation.

Further Catholic Formation

A self-guided introduction to Catholic belief and life
Catholic Faith Foundations is for anyone who would like to understand the Catholic faith more deeply — whether you are beginning to explore Christianity, returning to the Church, considering becoming Catholic, preparing for a sacrament, or simply wanting to renew the foundations of your faith.
The interactive course allows you to work through the Foundations sessions at your own pace, with clear teaching, reflection and prayer.
OPEN CATHOLIC FAITH FOUNDATIONS APP
You do not need to register or complete the whole course at once.
Catholic Faith Foundations is a formation resource. It does not replace a particular sacramental pathway where one is needed.
