A Journey into the Catholic Faith
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is the way the Catholic Church welcomes adults and older children into full life with Christ and His Church, through Baptism, Confirmation, and the Eucharist.
RCIA is not simply a course or a set of lessons.
It is a journey of faith, shaped by prayer, learning, and belonging, in which people are invited to discover what it means to live as a Catholic in the world today.
Who RCIA Is For
RCIA is open to:
- those who have never been baptised
- those baptised in another Christian community who wish to enter full communion with the Catholic Church
- baptised Catholics who have not yet received First Holy Communion or Confirmation
If you are unsure whether RCIA is right for you, you are very welcome to make contact and talk it through.
What RCIA Is About
Encounter with Christ
RCIA invites people into a real and living relationship with Jesus Christ.
Through Scripture, prayer, and the sacramental life of the Church, faith is not only explained, but lived.
A solid foundation in the Catholic Faith
Participants are introduced to the essential teachings of the Catholic Church, drawing on:
- Sacred Scripture
- the Catechism of the Catholic Church
- the lived faith of the Church
Our approach is faithful, simple, and pastoral — rooted in the teaching handed on from the apostles and attentive to the realities of modern life.
Belonging to the Church
Becoming Catholic is not simply about learning doctrines or completing a programme.
It is about becoming part of the Body of Christ.
RCIA is a bridge into the life of the parish — a community that worships, prays, serves, and grows together.
A faith to be lived
From the beginning, RCIA encourages participants to see faith as something lived in daily life.
Every Catholic — young or old, single or married — is called to holiness and witness in ordinary circumstances.
About the Materials on This Website
Some of the material used in our parish RCIA process is made available below as a structured introduction to the Catholic Faith, rooted in the teaching of the Church.
These resources:
- support learning and reflection
- give a sense of the journey of faith
- help those who are exploring or enquiring
They do not replace:
- personal accompaniment
- sacramental preparation
- prayerful discernment with a priest
Reception into the Catholic Church always involves freedom, dialogue, and pastoral guidance.
