Meeting God Together
Opening Prayer
Lord,
You call us together as Your people.
Help us understand the gift of the Mass.
Open our hearts to worship You
with attention and love.
Amen.
Part One
We Are Not Alone
Faith is personal,
but it is not private.
God calls us into a family.
When we go to Mass,
we do not go alone.
We gather as the Church.
The Bible says:
“Where there are two or three gathered together in my name,
there am I in the midst of them.”
At Mass,
Jesus is truly present among His people.
We come together to:
Listen to God’s Word.
Offer prayer.
Give thanks.
Receive grace.
Mass is not only something we attend.
It is something we take part in.
Scripture
“Where there are two or three gathered together in my name,
there am I in the midst of them.”
(Matthew 18:20)
Think and Discuss
Why do you think God asks us to gather together?
Is it different to pray alone and to pray with others?
What do you notice when you walk into a church?
Why might Sunday be important?
Allow thoughtful answers.
Part Two
What Happens at Mass
At Mass, two great things happen.
First, we listen.
We hear readings from Scripture.
God speaks to His people.
Then, we offer and receive.
Bread and wine are brought forward.
They become the Body and Blood of Christ.
The Mass is not only a reminder.
It is the sacrifice of Christ made present.
We join our lives to His offering.
We bring our week —
our joys,
our struggles,
our work,
our worries —
and place them before God.
Mass is the heart of the Christian life.
Guidance for Adults
Model reverence.
Children learn the meaning of the Mass by observing attention, silence, and respect.
Part Three
Why It Matters Every Week
We eat every day because our bodies need food.
We come to Mass because our souls need strength.
The Commandment says:
“Remember that thou keep holy the sabbath day.”
Sunday is not just another day.
It is the Lord’s Day.
When we go faithfully,
We grow in grace.
We stay connected to Christ.
We remember who we are.
Missing Mass without serious reason
harms our spiritual life.
But faithful attendance
strengthens it.
Mass shapes our hearts
week after week.
Quiet Reflection
Sit quietly for a moment.
Think about the last time you were at Mass.
What part did you notice most?
Now say quietly:
“Lord, help me worship You.”
Remain in silence together.
Practise This Week
Choose one:
• Arrive at Mass a few minutes early and sit quietly.
• Listen carefully to one reading and remember one line.
• Offer one personal intention during the prayers.
• Thank God after Mass before leaving the church.
Choose one and keep it steady.
Optional Response
Choose one:
Memory
Repeat slowly:
“The Lord is in the midst of them.”
Say it three times thoughtfully.
Action
Practise making the Sign of the Cross slowly and reverently.
Closing Prayer
Lord Jesus,
Thank You for the gift of the Mass.
Help us worship You faithfully.
Keep us close to You
each Lord’s Day.
Amen.
