We Are Not Made Only for This World
Opening Prayer
Lord God,
You made us for Yourself.
Help us remember that our true home is with You.
Teach us to live with heaven in our hearts.
Amen.
Part One
Our True Home
We all think about the future.
What we will do.
Where we will go.
Who we will become.
But the Bible tells us something even greater.
We were not made only for this world.
We were made for heaven.
Heaven is not just a place in the sky.
It is life with God.
It is seeing Him face to face.
It is joy that does not end.
Scripture
“For here we have no lasting city,
but we seek one that is to come.”
(Hebrews 13:14)
Think and Discuss
What do you think heaven will be like?
Why do you think God created us for more than this life?
Does remembering heaven change how we live now?
What things in this world do not last?
Listen without rushing to correct.
Part Two
Why Heaven Matters Now
If we forget heaven,
we can start living as if this life is everything.
We may worry too much about:
Popularity
Success
Having more things
Winning arguments
But if we remember heaven,
we remember what truly lasts.
Love lasts.
Kindness lasts.
Faithfulness lasts.
Truth lasts.
Our choices matter because they shape our souls.
We are not only preparing for tomorrow.
We are preparing for eternity.
Guidance for Adults
Avoid describing heaven in sentimental or imaginative detail.
Keep it simple: life with God, complete joy, nothing lacking.
Children need hope, not speculation.
Part Three
Living With Heaven in Mind
Living for heaven does not mean ignoring the world.
It means living well in it.
When we:
Forgive
Tell the truth
Pray
Choose what is right
Help others
we are growing in the kind of life that belongs to heaven.
Heaven begins in small acts of faith.
When something is difficult,
we can ask:
Will this matter in eternity?
That question helps us choose wisely.
Quiet Reflection
Sit quietly for a moment.
Imagine standing before God.
He knows everything about you
and loves you completely.
What would you want Him to see growing in your life?
Sit in silence together.
