GROW IN FAITH 43 – Heaven

Our True Home

Opening Prayer

Lord God,
You created us for eternal life.
Help us hope for heaven.
Keep our hearts fixed on You
as our true home.
Amen.

Part One

Made for More

Deep in every heart
there is a longing.

We long for happiness that lasts.
For love that does not end.
For peace that cannot be broken.

Nothing on earth fully satisfies that longing.

Why?

Because we were made for more.

The Bible says:

“Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard,
neither hath it entered into the heart of man,
what things God hath prepared for them that love him.”

Heaven is not simply a place.

It is life with God.

It is seeing Him face to face.

It is perfect love,
perfect joy,
perfect peace.

Scripture

“Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard…
what things God hath prepared for them that love him.”
(1 Corinthians 2:9)

Think and Discuss

Why do earthly things never fully satisfy us?

What do you imagine heaven is like?

Why is being with God the greatest joy?

How does hope for heaven change how we live now?

Allow thoughtful answers.

Part Two

What Heaven Is

Heaven is the fullness of communion with God.

It is not floating on clouds.

It is not endless boredom.

It is complete life.

In heaven:

There is no sin.
No suffering.
No fear.
No death.

The saints see God clearly.

They love Him perfectly.

They love one another without selfishness.

Heaven is the fulfilment
of every good desire.

But heaven is also a gift.

We cannot earn it by our own strength.

We are saved by grace.

Through faith.
Through the sacraments.
Through perseverance in love.

God desires everyone to be saved.

He invites us freely.

Guidance for Adults

Present heaven as joyful hope, not vague imagery.
Avoid overly sentimental or frightening descriptions.

Part Three

Living with Hope

Thinking about heaven
does not make us ignore earth.

It helps us live wisely here.

When we remember heaven:

We take sin seriously.
We forgive more quickly.
We suffer with patience.
We make better choices.

Heaven gives meaning
to small acts of love.

It reminds us
that this life is a journey.

The saints kept their eyes fixed on heaven.

They were not distracted
by temporary things.

We are not meant to be anxious about heaven.

We are meant to hope.

Christian hope is confident trust
that God keeps His promises.

Heaven is not far away.

Every Mass is a glimpse of heaven.

Every act of love prepares us for it.

We were created for eternal life.

That is our destiny.

Quiet Reflection

Sit quietly for a moment.

Imagine standing before God
who loves you perfectly.

Now say quietly:

“Lord, lead me home.”

Remain in silence together.
