We Do Not Grow Alone
Opening Prayer
Lord God,
You know that we are weak.
Give us Your grace.
Help us grow stronger in goodness
with Your help.
Amen.
Part One
We Cannot Do It Alone
We all want to be good.
We want to be patient.
We want to forgive.
We want to tell the truth.
We want to choose what is right.
But sometimes we fail.
We lose our temper.
We make selfish choices.
We give in to temptation.
If it depended only on us,
we would grow tired quickly.
But God does not leave us alone.
He gives us grace.
Grace is God’s help working inside us.
Scripture
“My grace is sufficient for you:
for my power is made perfect in weakness.”
(2 Corinthians 12:9)
Think and Discuss
Have you ever tried hard to do something good and still struggled?
Why do you think we need help to grow?
What does it mean that God helps us from the inside?
When do you most need strength?
Listen calmly and honestly.
Part Two
What Grace Does
Grace is not magic.
It does not remove every struggle.
Grace gives us:
Strength to try again.
Light to see what is right.
Courage to say no to sin.
Peace after forgiveness.
Grace is given especially through:
Prayer
The Sacraments
Listening to God’s Word
Acts of charity
When we pray,
we open our hearts to grace.
When we go to Confession,
grace heals us.
When we receive Holy Communion,
grace strengthens us.
Guidance for Adults
Keep grace concrete.
Avoid abstract explanations.
Children understand grace best as “God helping me from the inside.”
Part Three
Growing Stronger
Think of learning to ride a bicycle.
At first, you fall.
But each time you try again,
you grow stronger.
The Christian life is like that.
We fall.
We rise.
We ask for help.
We try again.
Grace does not remove effort.
Grace makes effort fruitful.
When we say:
“Lord, help me,”
we are already opening ourselves to grace.
Weakness is not the end.
It is the place where grace begins.
Quiet Reflection
Sit quietly for a moment.
Think of one area where you struggle.
Now say quietly:
“Lord, help me grow.”
Remain in silence together.
Practise This Week
Choose one:
• Each morning pray: “Lord, give me strength today.”
• Before a difficult task, ask for God’s help.
• Go to Confession if you are able.
• After falling into sin, pray immediately instead of hiding.
Choose one and keep it steady.
Optional Response
Choose one:
Memory
Repeat together slowly:
“My grace is sufficient for you.”
Say it three times.
Gesture
Open your hands in front of you.
Say: “Lord, I need Your help.”
Hold that posture for a moment in silence.
Closing Prayer
Lord,
You know our weakness.
Thank You for Your grace.
Strengthen us when we struggle.
Help us rise when we fall.
May Your grace make us strong.
Amen.
