Parish Formation for Children (5–12) and Their Parents
At St Mary’s, St John Bosco and St Edward’s, we believe that the faith is first formed in the home.
Grow in Faith is our parish formation series for children aged 5–12 and their parents. It is designed to support families in growing steadily in Catholic faith and practice — not through programmes or activities, but through simple, faithful reflection rooted in the teaching of the Church.
Each theme:
- Draws directly from Sacred Scripture and Catholic teaching.
- Can be used at home without preparation or additional materials.
- Encourages prayer, reflection and practical Christian living.
- Supports what is celebrated at Mass and in the sacraments.
This is not a course to complete, but a pattern of formation to return to again and again. Families may use one theme each week, or choose themes as needed. Over time, the whole arc presents the fullness of Catholic life: what we believe, how we worship, how we live, and where we are going.
We encourage parents to read these themes aloud with their children, allowing time for discussion and quiet reflection. The aim is not to rush, but to grow steadily — forming habits of prayer, reverence, and thoughtful faith.
The parish stands alongside families in this work of formation. What is taught at church should echo in the home, and what is lived in the home should deepen participation in parish life.
May the Lord bless your family as you grow together in faith.
