Priest: Brothers and sisters, as we await the coming of our Saviour, who enters the world to rescue us from sin and death, let us place our needs before the Father with trust.
That the Church may never cease to proclaim the truth of sin and the greater truth of mercy,
calling all people to repentance, conversion, and the saving grace of Jesus Christ.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.
For all who live without God, for those who have drifted from the faith,
and for those who resist conversion:
that the light of Christ may reach their hearts and lead them to repentance and life.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.
That this final week of Advent may be a time of sincere examination of conscience,
fruitful Confession, and renewed desire for holiness,
so that Christ may be born in our souls.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.
For parents, guardians, teachers, and catechists:
that they may lead those entrusted to them away from sin and toward salvation,
by example, prayer, and faithful teaching.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.
That Christ, who comes to save, may strengthen all who suffer,
grant perseverance to the dying,
and open the gates of mercy to those most in need of grace.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.
For all who have died,
especially those who died suddenly or unprepared:
that the mercy of Christ may purify them from sin and bring them to the joy of eternal life.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.
Let us pray in silence for the grace of repentance, for forgiveness of our sins,
and for a deeper desire for salvation.
(silent prayer)
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.
We ask the intercession of Mary,
who bore the Saviour of the world:
Hail Mary…
Priest:
Father of mercy, You sent Your Son to save His people from their sins.
Hear the prayers we bring before You in faith,
and prepare our hearts to receive the gift of salvation
as we welcome Christ at Christmas. Through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
