Intercessions – Christ the King – 23 November 2025

Priest: Brothers and sisters, as the Church comes to the end of her year,
we lift our eyes to Christ — the Alpha and the Omega,
the King whose crown is thorns and whose throne is the Cross.
Let us pray that His Kingdom may come in our lives and in our world.

For the Holy Church of God
That she may proclaim Christ as Lord with courage and clarity,
faithful to the truth of His Gospel and radiant with the mercy of His Kingdom.
Lord, hear us. Response: Lord, graciously hear us.

For Pope Leo, our bishops, and all who serve in leadership in the Church
that they may shepherd Christ’s people not with power, but with humility,
guiding us to the peace of His reign.
Lord, hear us. Response: Lord, graciously hear us.

For rulers, governments, and all who exercise authority in the world
that they may recognise that true power is service,
and that justice and compassion may reign in every nation.
Lord, hear us. Response: Lord, graciously hear us.

For our parish community
that we may acknowledge Christ as King of our hearts and homes,
placing Him first in our choices, our work, and our relationships.
May we build His Kingdom by the way we live.
Lord, hear us. Response: Lord, graciously hear us.

For all who are poor, forgotten, or oppressed
that the mercy of Christ our King may comfort them,
and that His Church may be a living sign of His compassion.
Lord, hear us. Response: Lord, graciously hear us.

For those who struggle with faith or feel far from God
that the words spoken to the Good Thief may echo in their hearts:
“Today you will be with Me in Paradise.”
May they discover in Christ a King who forgives and remembers.
Lord, hear us. Response: Lord, graciously hear us.

For the faithful departed
that they may now share in the Kingdom prepared from the foundation of the world,
and see the face of their crucified and risen King.
Lord, hear us. Response: Lord, graciously hear us.

Let us pause in silent prayer, asking that Christ may truly reign —
in our hearts, in our homes, and in our world.

(Pause briefly.)

Together we honour Mary, the Queen of Heaven and Mother of the King of Kings:
Hail Mary, full of grace…

Priest:
Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe, You have conquered sin and death by the power of the Cross.
Reign now in our hearts, renew Your Church in holiness, and gather all creation into the peace of Your Kingdom, where You live and reign for ever and ever.
Amen.
