Intercessions – Gaudete Sunday 14 December 2025 – Year A

Priest: Brothers and sisters, as we rejoice that the Lord is near, let us place our needs before the Father, who is faithful to His promises and never abandons His people.

That the Church may rejoice even in trial,
remain faithful to the truth of the Gospel,
and proclaim Christ with confidence to a waiting world.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

For a world burdened by conflict, fear, and uncertainty:
that the coming of Christ may bring healing to the wounded,
hope to the weary, and justice where there is oppression.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

That those who, like John the Baptist, question in the darkness
may be strengthened by the signs of God’s faithfulness
and renewed in hope as they wait for the Lord.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

That in this season of Advent
we may recognise the work of God already among us,
grow in patience and charity,
and become signs of joy rooted in faith.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

That Christ, who heals the blind, the lame, and the broken-hearted,
may draw close to all who suffer in body, mind, or spirit,
and give them strength, peace, and consolation.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

That all who have died in the hope of the resurrection
may rejoice in the fulfilment of God’s promises
and share the joy of eternal life.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

Let us pray in silence for the intentions we hold in our hearts,
and for the grace to wait with patience and joy
for the coming of the Lord.

(silent prayer)

Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

As we await the coming of the Lord, we ask the prayers of Mary, the Mother of Hope:
Hail Mary…

Priest:
Faithful Father, hear the prayers we bring before You in hope. Strengthen us as we wait for Your Son, and help us to rejoice always in His saving presence. Through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
