Priest: Brothers and sisters, as we begin this new year by honouring Mary, the Mother of God,
let us place our prayers before the Father, who sent His Son to be born of a woman
so that we might become His children.
That the Church may always proclaim with clarity
that Jesus Christ is true God and true man,
born of the Virgin Mary for our salvation,
and lead the world with confidence to her Son.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.
For peace among nations,
for an end to war, violence, and injustice,
and for leaders to seek the common good with humility and wisdom,
trusting in the Prince of Peace born of Mary.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.
That families may begin this year under the protection of Mary,
growing in faith, patience, and forgiveness,
and learning to welcome Christ more deeply into daily life.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.
That Mary, who knew hardship and uncertainty,
may intercede for all who suffer in body, mind, or spirit,
and that Christ her Son may bring healing, comfort, and hope.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.
That all who face this year with anxiety, regret, or loss
may know the closeness of God,
and trust that the Lord who came through Mary
will remain with them in every trial.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.
For all who have died,
especially those who have died recently or unprepared:
that the mercy of Christ, born of the Virgin Mary,
may forgive their sins
and bring them into the joy of eternal life.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.
Let us now pause in silence
and entrust our own prayers and intentions
to the care of Mary, the Mother of God.
Together we pray:
Hail Mary…
Priest:
Father of mercy, You gave us Mary to be the Mother of Your Son and our Mother in the order of grace. Hear the prayers we have offered and guide us through this new year in faith, hope, and charity. Through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
