Intercessions – Nativity of the Lord – Christmas Day – 25 December 2025

Priest: Brothers and sisters, on this holy feast when the Word has become flesh and salvation has appeared among us, let us bring our prayers before the Father, who has sent His Son to save the world.

That the Church, rejoicing in the birth of her Lord, may proclaim with clarity and courage
that Jesus Christ is true God and true man, the only Saviour of the world,
and the light that no darkness can overcome.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

For the nations of the world, especially where there is war, division, or fear:
that the Prince of Peace, born among us this day, may guide leaders in justice
and turn hearts from violence to reconciliation. Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

That families may welcome Christ into their homes this Christmas,
making room for prayer, forgiveness, and generosity,
and learning again that God is with them in every joy and every trial.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

For all who feel overlooked, burdened, or alone this Christmas,
that the Saviour born in poverty may draw close to them, bring comfort to their hearts,
and remind them that they are never forgotten by God.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

That Christ, who took our flesh and shared our weakness,
may give strength to the sick, peace to the dying, and hope of eternal life to all who trust in Him.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

For all who have died, especially those who have died recently
and those who died without the comfort of faith: that the Child born for us may forgive their sins and bring them into the joy of His heavenly Kingdom.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

For ourselves, that this Christmas may not pass us by,
but that we may truly receive Christ,
allow Him to save us from sin,
and live as children of the light
throughout the coming year. Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

Let us offer the prayers of our hearts in silence.

We ask the prayers of Mary,
who gave birth to the Saviour of the world:
Hail Mary…

Priest:
Father of mercy, You have given us Your Son, born of the Virgin Mary, to be our Saviour and our peace. Hear the prayers we have offered and keep us faithful to the grace of this holy feast.
Through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
