Prayers of the Faithful – Second Sunday of Advent (Year A)
Priest: As we continue our Advent journey and prepare the way of the Lord,
let us turn to God our Father, who hears the cries of His people and fulfils His promises in Christ.
For the holy Church of God:
that in this Advent season she may call the world back to repentance,
speak with the voice of John the Baptist,
and lead all people to the peace promised in Christ.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.
For a world longing for justice and peace:
that the Spirit of the Lord may soften hardened hearts,
straighten what is crooked among nations,
and raise up leaders who labour for the common good.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.
For our own parish family:
that we may use these days of Advent well —
deepening our prayer, healing divisions,
and preparing a straight path for Christ in our homes,
our relationships, and our daily choices.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.
For those who carry heavy burdens:
the sick, the anxious, the lonely,
and all who struggle silently in mind or body.
May the Lord, who comes with healing in His wings,
lift them up and surround them with His peace.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.
For all who have died recently,
and for those whose anniversaries occur at this time.
May they see the salvation God has prepared for every nation
and rejoice in the light of His Kingdom.
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.
Let us pray in silence for the intentions we bring to this Mass,
and for the grace to walk more faithfully with the Lord this Advent.
(Silent prayer…)
Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.
We ask the prayers of Mary, the Woman who prepared her heart perfectly
for the coming of Christ:
Hail Mary…
