Priest:
Brothers and sisters, as the risen Lord draws near to His disciples, opens the Scriptures, and makes Himself known in the breaking of the bread, let us place our prayers before the Father with trust and humility.
Reader:
For the Church throughout the world:
that she may always recognise the risen Christ in the Scriptures and in the Eucharist, and lead many people to faith, hope, and deeper communion with Him.
Lord, hear us.
Reader:
For the nations of the world and those who govern them:
that the peace of the risen Christ may overcome division and unrest, and that those in authority may work for justice, truth, and the good of all.
Lord, hear us.
Reader:
For those who are discouraged, confused, or losing hope:
that the Lord who walked with the disciples on the road to Emmaus may come near to them, strengthen them, and set their hearts on fire again.
Lord, hear us.
Reader:
For those preparing to receive the sacraments, and for all who are growing in faith:
that Christ may open their minds to understand His word and draw them ever more deeply into His life.
Lord, hear us.
Reader:
For the sick, the dying, and the faithful departed:
that the risen Lord may bring healing to the suffering, peace to the dying, and eternal joy to those who have gone before us in faith.
Lord, hear us.
Reader:
Let us now pause and offer in silence the prayers we hold in our hearts.
(silent prayer)
Reader:
Let us entrust these prayers to the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
All:
Hail Mary…
Priest:
Father of glory,
your Son made Himself known
to His disciples in the breaking of the bread.
Hear the prayers we make in faith,
and keep us always close
to the risen Christ,
who lives and reigns for ever and ever.
Amen.
