Just Teach Sheet – Seeker January Week 1 – 2026

Seeker Track – Just Teach Sheet
January Week 1 (2026)
Theme: Baptism and New Life in Christ
Focus: Belonging, Identity, and Why Baptism Matters
Audience: Seekers, non-Catholics, returning Christians

Weekly Goal
To explain why Christianity begins with belonging before behaviour, and why Baptism is not just a ceremony but a claim about identity.
This week helps seekers understand what Christians mean when they say they “belong to God” and why Baptism matters even before a person understands everything.

What You’ll Need
This sheet
A Bible (or online Bible)
Time for honest reflection

Opening Prayer (Optional)
God of truth,
if You exist and You know me,
help me understand what it means to belong.
If Christianity claims identity comes from You,
show me whether that is reasonable.
Amen.

Day 1 – The Question of Identity

Teaching
Every human life asks the same question:
Who am I?

Modern culture says identity is self-chosen.
Christianity claims identity is received.

At Jesus’ Baptism, His identity is declared before His mission begins.

Matthew 3:17
“This is My beloved Son.”

Christian faith begins with being named, not with self-definition.

Reflection
Is identity something we create, or something we discover?

Day 2 – What Christians Mean by Baptism

Teaching
Christians do not see Baptism as a symbol only.
They claim it effects a real change in relationship.

Baptism marks a person as belonging to God.

Romans 8:15
“You received a Spirit of adoption.”

Catechism of the Catholic Church 1265

Reflection
What changes when a person knows they belong?

Day 3 – Why Belonging Comes Before Behaviour

Teaching
Christianity does not begin by telling people how to behave.
It begins by telling them who they are.

Belonging comes first. Living differently comes after.

Ephesians 1:5
“He destined us for adoption.”

Reflection
Do people change more when they feel accepted or when they feel judged?

Day 4 – Why Baptise Children?

Teaching
The Church baptises children because belonging is a gift, not an achievement.

Children belong to families before they understand them.
Christianity applies the same logic to God.

Acts 16:15
Households were baptised together.

Reflection
Does love wait for understanding, or does it create the space for it?

Day 5 – Living from Belonging

Teaching
If Baptism claims a person belongs to God, then life becomes a response.

Christian living is not about earning God’s approval, but living from it.

1 John 3:1
“We are called children of God.”

Reflection
If you truly belonged to a loving God, what might change?
