Just Teach Sheet Teen September Week 4

Teen Track – Just Teach Sheet

September Week 4
Theme: Faith & Belonging to the Church
Audience: Teens (13–18) – Faith Formation / Confirmation Prep
Focus: Belonging to the Church means living faith daily — through witness, service, forgiveness, and charity. It’s not just Sunday Mass, but a way of life.

Weekly Goal

Teens recognise that faith isn’t private or part-time. Belonging to Christ’s Church means living differently: forgiving enemies, helping others, standing up for the faith, and witnessing to Christ in daily life.

Opening Prayer (Daily)

Lord Jesus,
You call me not only to worship You at Mass,
but to live as Your disciple each day.
Give me courage to live my Catholic faith openly,
to love, forgive, and serve,
so that others may see You in me. Amen.

Day 1 – Faith Is More Than Sundays

Teaching:
The Church is not just a building or a weekly event. It is a way of life, 24/7.

James 1:22 – “Be doers of the word, and not hearers only.”

Reflection:
A Catholic who only prays on Sunday is like an athlete who only trains once a week. Faith grows when it is lived daily.

Ask yourself:

Do people know I’m Catholic outside of Sunday?

What could I do this week to make my faith visible?

Day 2 – Forgiving Like Christ

Teaching:
Belonging to the Church means forgiving, even when it’s hard.

Colossians 3:13 – “Forgive as the Lord forgave you.”

Reflection:
Nothing is more countercultural than forgiveness. It shows we belong to Christ’s family.

Challenge:
Think of someone who has hurt you. Pray for them by name today, even if forgiveness is hard.

Day 3 – Serving Others

Teaching:
The early Christians were known for charity — feeding the poor, rescuing abandoned babies, caring for the sick. That’s how the world knew they were Christ’s.

Galatians 6:2 – “Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.”

Reflection:
The Church grows when her members serve. If I belong to Christ’s Body, I must use my gifts to serve.

Ask yourself:

What gifts has God given me? (time, talents, strength, words)

How can I use one of these this week in service?

Day 4 – Witness in the World

Teaching:
Being Catholic means standing up for truth, even when unpopular. Many saints were teenagers who defended the faith with courage.

Matthew 5:14 – “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.”

Reflection:
If my friends don’t know I’m Catholic, am I hiding my light?

Challenge:
Do one public witness this week — make the Sign of the Cross before lunch at school, post something Catholic online, or share your faith with a friend.

Day 5 – Sent on Mission

Teaching:
At the end of every Mass, we are sent: “Go and announce the Gospel of the Lord.” Our belonging to the Church is not just about us — it’s about mission.

1 Peter 3:15 – “Always be ready to give a reason for the hope that is in you.”

Reflection:
To belong to Christ’s Church is to be His witness in the world.

Ask yourself:

How would I explain to someone why I am Catholic?

What step could I take to live mission this week?

Weekend Wrap-Up – Living the Church Daily

Reflect:

Do I live my Catholic faith daily, or just on Sunday?

Where is God asking me to forgive, serve, or witness?

How does belonging to the Church give me strength to live differently?

Journal Prompts

“One way I will live my Catholic faith outside of Mass this week is…”

“The hardest thing about living as a Catholic in the world is…”

“The gift I can bring to my parish or friends is…”

Apologetics for Teens

“Church is just Sunday.”
→ Wrong. The Church is a family and a way of life. Worship fuels us, but faith is lived daily.

“I don’t need to forgive — they don’t deserve it.”
→ Christ forgave us when we didn’t deserve it. Forgiveness is proof we belong to Him.

“Being Catholic is private.”
→ Jesus said, “You are the light of the world” (Matt 5:14). Faith is never private.
