Just Teach Sheets – Adult November Week 1 2025

Adult Track

November Week 1
Theme: The Mass & the Eucharist
Focus: The Eucharist: The Heart of the Church and the Source of Christian Life
Audience: Adult Catholics (practising or returning)

Weekly Goal

To deepen understanding of the Eucharist as the centre of Catholic life — the real, living presence of Jesus Christ offered for us and received as the food of eternal life. Adults reflect on how the Mass unites the sacrifice of Calvary with daily Christian living.

What You’ll Need

This sheet

Bible

Catechism (CCC 1322–1419)

Journal or notebook for prayer

Opening Prayer (Daily)

Lord Jesus Christ,
You are truly present in the Eucharist.
Teach me to love the Mass,
to adore You in the Sacrament,
and to let Your Body and Blood renew my life.
May I live each day as a grateful member of Your Body, the Church.
Amen.

Day 1 – The Eucharist Is Jesus Himself

Teaching:
The Eucharist is not a symbol or reminder; it is Jesus — His Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity. When the priest says, “This is My Body,” Christ Himself speaks through him.

Luke 22:19–20 – “This is My Body, which will be given for you… This cup is the new covenant in My Blood.”
CCC 1374 – “The Body and Blood… of our Lord Jesus Christ are truly, really, and substantially contained in the Eucharist.”

Reflection:
Every tabernacle holds the living Christ. To kneel before Him is to kneel before God Himself.

Questions:

How conscious am I of Christ’s Real Presence at Mass?

How might I prepare better before receiving Him?

Day 2 – The Mass Is the One Sacrifice of Christ

Teaching:
The Eucharist makes present the sacrifice of Calvary. It is not a repetition but a re-presentation — the same offering of Christ made truly present through time.

1 Corinthians 11:26 – “Whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until He comes.”
CCC 1367 – “The sacrifice of Christ and the sacrifice of the Eucharist are one single sacrifice.”

Reflection:
At Mass we stand beneath the Cross, but now it is offered in peace, for our salvation.

Questions:

How does seeing Mass as sacrifice change my participation?

Do I unite my own sufferings with Christ’s at the altar?

Day 3 – Holy Communion: Union with Christ

Teaching:
When we receive Holy Communion, we receive the living Jesus — not a piece of bread, but the Divine Person who strengthens our soul.

John 6:51 – “I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats this bread will live forever.”
CCC 1391 – “Holy Communion augments our union with Christ.”

Reflection:
Communion unites us not only with Christ but with all who belong to Him. It is both deeply personal and profoundly communal.

Questions:

Do I see Communion as mere ritual or real encounter?

What grace do I most need from the Eucharist this week?

Day 4 – The Eucharist Builds the Church

Teaching:
The Eucharist is the “source and summit” of Christian life. It builds the Church by uniting believers to Christ and to one another.

1 Corinthians 10:17 – “Because there is one bread, we who are many are one body.”
CCC 1324 – “The Eucharist is the source and summit of the Christian life.”

Reflection:
Without the Eucharist, there is no Church. We do not make the Eucharist — the Eucharist makes us.

Questions:

How does the Eucharist shape my belonging to the Church?

Do I see the Mass as the centre of parish life, or one activity among many?

Day 5 – The Eucharist Sends Us on Mission

Teaching:
At the end of Mass, we hear, “Go forth, the Mass is ended.” This isn’t a dismissal — it’s a commission. Having received Christ, we are sent to carry Him into the world.

John 13:34 – “Love one another as I have loved you.”
CCC 1397 – “The Eucharist commits us to the poor.”

Reflection:
Every Eucharist demands action. The same Christ we adore in the tabernacle is the Christ we serve in others.

Questions:

How does receiving the Eucharist change my life outside church?

Who in my life most needs to experience Christ’s love through me?

Weekend Wrap-Up – Lessons from the Eucharist

The Eucharist is Jesus Himself, truly present.

The Mass makes Calvary present in every age.

Communion unites us with Christ and His Body, the Church.

The Eucharist builds the Church and sends us on mission.

To live eucharistically is to live in gratitude, sacrifice, and love.

Reflection prompts:

“How can I make Sunday Mass the heart of my week?”

“How will I live what I receive at the altar?”

Journal Prompts

“The most powerful moment of the Mass for me is…”

“The Eucharist helps me to…”

“I want to thank Jesus for His presence in the Eucharist by…”

Apologetics for Adults

“The Eucharist is only a symbol.”
→ Jesus said, “This is My Body.” The early Church always believed He meant exactly that. (See John 6, Ignatius of Antioch, Justin Martyr.)

“Why do Catholics go to Mass every week?”
→ Because the Eucharist is the new covenant meal — the heart of worship commanded by Christ.

“Can’t I pray at home instead?”
→ You can — but Christ’s Real Presence is unique to the Eucharist. There is no substitute for being in His presence and receiving His Body and Blood.
