Just Teach Sheets – Adult October Week 5

Adult Track

October Week 5 (2025)
Theme: Saints & Holiness
Focus: Heaven, the Saints, and the Hope of Glory
Audience: Adults — Practising, Returning, or Growing in Faith

Weekly Goal

To deepen understanding of heaven as the ultimate fulfilment of God’s plan, to grasp the Communion of Saints as the living reality of the Church, and to see holiness not as perfectionism but as the journey of love that leads to eternal union with God.
The week invites reflection on hope — the virtue that anchors the Christian soul between earth and heaven.

Opening Prayer (Daily)

Lord Jesus Christ,
You are the resurrection and the life.
You have prepared a place for those who love You.
Strengthen my faith, deepen my hope,
and fill me with the desire to see You face to face.
May I live each day as a step toward heaven.
Amen.

Day 1 – Heaven: The Fulfilment of Desire

Teaching:
Every human heart longs for heaven, whether it knows it or not.
We were made for perfect love, unending joy, and peace that never fades — and these are found only in God.

John 14:2–3 – “In My Father’s house there are many rooms… I go to prepare a place for you.”
CCC 1024: “Heaven is the ultimate end and fulfilment of the deepest human longings, the state of supreme happiness.”

Reflection:
The saints remind us that heaven is not fantasy but destiny.
We are pilgrims — not wanderers — and our journey has a home.

Questions:

When I think of heaven, what do I picture?

Do I live as if heaven is real and waiting?

Practice:
Offer your work today “for heaven’s sake” — as an act of love that will echo into eternity.

Day 2 – The Communion of Saints: One Family in Christ

Teaching:
The Church is one Body in Christ — those on earth (the Church militant), those being purified (the Church suffering), and those already in glory (the Church triumphant).
We remain connected through prayer, love, and the Eucharist.

Hebrews 12:1 – “Since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses…”
CCC 947: “Since all the faithful form one body, the good of each is communicated to the others.”

Reflection:
We are never alone in faith. Every Mass unites heaven and earth; every “Amen” joins the chorus of saints.

Questions:

Which saint do I most admire — and why?

How might I imitate their love for Christ this week?

Practice:
Pray the Litany of the Saints or choose one saint to be your companion this month.

Day 3 – Holiness and Hope: The Road to Heaven

Teaching:
Holiness is not a special calling for a few — it’s the universal call of every Christian.
Hope keeps us moving toward that goal, even through suffering and imperfection.

1 John 3:2–3 – “We shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.”
CCC 2013: “All Christians are called to the fullness of Christian life and to the perfection of charity.”

Reflection:
Holiness is not about being flawless — it’s about being faithful.
Every act of trust in God, every choice for love, draws us closer to heaven.

Questions:

Where do I find it hardest to hope?

What small act of trust can I make today?

Practice:
Before bed, pray slowly:

“Jesus, I trust in You. Lead me toward heaven.”

Day 4 – The Mass: Heaven on Earth

Teaching:
The Eucharist is the “pledge of future glory.”
At every Mass, heaven and earth unite — the angels and saints worship with us before the same Lamb of God they adore in glory.

Revelation 5:11–13 – “Worthy is the Lamb who was slain.”
CCC 1326: “The Eucharist is the pledge of the glory to come.”

Reflection:
The Mass is a window into heaven.
When the priest elevates the Host, we are standing on earth yet touching eternity.

Questions:

How might seeing Mass as heaven’s doorway change my participation?

Do I realise that the saints are present at every Eucharist?

Practice:
Attend Mass this week with new awareness — listen for the “Holy, Holy, Holy” and imagine joining heaven’s chorus.

Day 5 – Living Heaven’s Love Now

Teaching:
Heaven begins wherever Christ’s love is lived.
When we forgive, serve, and pray, heaven’s light shines through us.
The goal of holiness is not escape from the world, but transformation of it.

Philippians 3:20–21 – “Our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Saviour.”
CCC 1721: “God put us in the world to know, love, and serve Him, and so to come to paradise.”

Reflection:
Heaven is not far away — it is the direction of a heart that loves.
The saints were not dreamers who escaped life, but lovers who transformed it.

Questions:

How can I bring a bit of heaven to someone this week?

What would change if I lived each day as a rehearsal for heaven?

Practice:
Do one concrete act of mercy in thanksgiving for your future home with God.

Weekend Wrap-Up – What We Learned

Heaven is the goal of human life — union with God forever.

The saints are our family in the Communion of Saints.

Holiness and hope are the road to heaven.

The Mass is heaven’s worship made present on earth.

Living heaven’s love now prepares us for glory later.

Reflection prompts:

“Where do I already glimpse heaven in my life?”

“How am I responding to God’s call to holiness?”

Journal Prompts

“Heaven feels real to me when…”

“The saint who most helps my hope is…”

“If I lived like a citizen of heaven, I would…”

Apologetics for Adults

“Is heaven real or symbolic?” → Jesus spoke of heaven as a real dwelling with the Father (John 14:2). The Church teaches heaven is both place and state — real communion with God.

“What about purgatory — doesn’t that deny grace?” → No. Purgatory is grace’s completion — final purification for those who die in friendship with God but not yet perfected. (CCC 1030–1031)

“Why pray to saints?” → Because love doesn’t end with death. The saints intercede because they are alive in Christ (Rev 5:8).

“Is heaven boring?” → Far from it. Heaven is total joy — unending discovery of God’s infinite beauty and love.

Catechism Extension

CCC 946–962 – The Communion of Saints.

CCC 1023–1029 – Heaven.

CCC 1326 – The Eucharist as a pledge of glory.

CCC 1716–1729 – The Beatitudes and happiness.

Closing Prayer

Father of all holiness,
You have called me to share the life of heaven.
Through the intercession of the saints,
give me courage to walk the narrow road of love.
May I live with heaven in my heart
until the day I see You face to face.
Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
