Just Teach Sheets – Children November Week 1 2025

Parent/Guardian/Catechist – Just Teach Sheet

November Week 1
Theme: The Mass & the Eucharist
Focus: Jesus is truly present in the Eucharist — His Body and Blood given for us.
Audience: Children (First Holy Communion Prep, Ages 7+)

Weekly Goal

The child begins to understand that the Mass is not just a prayer service but a real meeting with Jesus, who is truly present in the Eucharist. The Eucharist is Jesus Himself — not a symbol, but His true Body and Blood.

What You’ll Need

This sheet

Bible

A children’s picture Bible (optional)

A small cross or image of the Last Supper

A candle for your prayer space

Opening Prayer (Say Daily)

Dear Jesus,
You are really here with us in the Eucharist.
Help me to love You more each time I come to Mass.
Teach me to see You in the bread and wine,
and to know You are truly present.
Amen.

Day 1 – Jesus Gave Us the Eucharist

Say aloud:
At the Last Supper, Jesus gave His friends bread and wine — but it became something much greater. He said:

“This is My Body… This is My Blood.”

Luke 22:19–20 – “Do this in memory of Me.”

Mini Homily Reflection:
Jesus didn’t just say remember Me. He gave us Himself — His Body and Blood — so He could stay with us forever.

Ask:

Why did Jesus choose bread and wine?
→ Because they are simple, everyday things — and He wanted to be close to us in ordinary life.

Practice:
Look at a crucifix. Say together:

“Jesus, You gave Yourself for me.”

Day 2 – The Mass Is the Last Supper Made Present

Say aloud:
At every Mass, we are not watching something new happen. We are taking part in the same sacrifice Jesus made on the Cross — the same love made present for us.

1 Corinthians 11:26 – “Every time you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the death of the Lord until He comes.”

Mini Homily Reflection:
Mass is heaven meeting earth. Jesus is not sacrificed again — His one sacrifice is made present for us now.

Ask:

What happens on the altar during Mass?
→ Jesus gives Himself again in love.

Activity:
Draw the altar at your church with Jesus’ love shining from it.

Day 3 – Jesus Is Truly Present

Say aloud:
When the priest says the words of Jesus — “This is My Body… This is My Blood” — the bread and wine become Jesus Himself. We call this miracle the Real Presence.

John 6:51 – “I am the living bread which came down from heaven.”

Mini Homily Reflection:
At Mass, Jesus is as real as He was in Bethlehem and on the Cross. We can’t see Him with our eyes, but He is really there.

Ask:

Is it hard to believe Jesus is truly there?
→ It’s okay to say yes — even some disciples found it hard to understand.

Practice:
Visit the church together. Sit quietly before the tabernacle. Whisper:

“Jesus, I believe You are here.”

Day 4 – Receiving Jesus in Holy Communion

Say aloud:
When we receive Holy Communion, Jesus comes into our hearts in a very special way. That’s why we prepare carefully — by going to confession, praying, and being kind to others.

John 6:56 – “Whoever eats My Flesh and drinks My Blood lives in Me and I in him.”

Mini Homily Reflection:
Communion isn’t just “taking bread.” It’s Jesus coming to live in you.

Ask:

How can we get ready for Jesus to come into our hearts?

Activity:
Make a “Jesus, I’m Ready” checklist:
☑ I’ve said sorry.
☑ I’ve forgiven others.
☑ I’ve prayed to welcome Him.

Day 5 – Living the Eucharist

Say aloud:
After Mass, Jesus stays with us — not just in the church, but in our hearts. The Eucharist sends us out to love others as Jesus loves us.

John 13:34 – “Love one another as I have loved you.”

Mini Homily Reflection:
Every time you go to Mass, Jesus gives you strength to love more.

Ask:

How can we share Jesus’ love this week?

Practice:
Choose one kind thing to do for someone at home or school — quietly, for Jesus.

Weekend Wrap-Up – What We Learned

The Eucharist is Jesus Himself.

The Mass makes present the Last Supper and the Cross.

The bread and wine truly become His Body and Blood.

When we receive Communion, Jesus lives in us.

We are sent to love others like Him.

Reflection prompts:

“How can I show love for Jesus after Mass?”

“What is one thing I love about going to Mass?”

Prayer Prompt or Journal Space

“Jesus, I believe You are truly present in the Eucharist. Thank You for coming to me.”

Encourage the child to draw or write a picture of the altar or tabernacle.

Apologetics for Parents

Q: Isn’t the Eucharist just a symbol?
→ No. Jesus said, “This is My Body” (Luke 22:19), not “This represents My body.” The Church has always believed He meant exactly what He said.

Q: Why does the priest say “Do this in memory of Me”?
→ “Memory” in the Bible means “to make present again.” Each Mass brings us back to Calvary — not a replay, but a participation.

Q: How can Jesus be in many places at once?
→ Because He is God. His risen Body is glorified and not limited by space or time.
