Just Teach Sheets – Children October Week 4

Parent/Guardian/Catechist

October Week 4
Theme: Saints & Holiness
Focus: The Solemnity of All Saints — celebrating all who are in heaven with God.
Audience: Children (First Holy Communion Prep, Ages 7+)

Weekly Goal

The child learns that the saints are God’s family in heaven. They are not far away, but alive with Christ, praying for us, and showing us how to follow Jesus.

What You’ll Need

This sheet

Bible

Paper and crayons

A holy card or picture of saints (group icons are especially helpful)

Opening Prayer (Daily)

Dear Jesus,
Thank You for all the saints in heaven.
Help me to follow You like they did,
so one day I can be with You forever.
Amen.

Day 1 – What Is All Saints’ Day?

Say aloud:
All Saints’ Day (November 1) is when we celebrate every saint in heaven — not only the famous ones, but also the hidden holy people who lived for Jesus.

Revelation 7:9 – “A great multitude… from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne.”

️ Mini Homily Reflection:
Heaven is not empty. It is filled with saints from every nation and time.

Ask:

Do you have a favourite saint?

What would heaven be like, filled with saints?

Day 2 – Who Are the Saints?

Say aloud:
Saints were ordinary people — mothers, fathers, children, kings, farmers, teachers, and priests — who loved Jesus above all things.

Hebrews 12:1 – “We are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses.”

️ Mini Homily Reflection:
The saints are like a crowd at a race, cheering us on to reach heaven too.

Ask:

Who cheers you on in life?

Can you imagine saints cheering for you?

Activity:
Draw yourself running a race with saints in the crowd.

Day 3 – Saints Pray for Us

Say aloud:
Saints are alive with God. Just as we ask friends on earth to pray for us, we can ask the saints to pray for us too.

Revelation 5:8 – The saints in heaven offer our prayers before God.

️ Mini Homily Reflection:
Saints are not far away. They are close, because they are part of God’s family — and we are too.

Ask:

If you could ask one saint to pray for you, who would it be?

Day 4 – We Are Called to Be Saints

Say aloud:
All Saints’ Day is not only about people already in heaven. It reminds us that we are called to be saints too.

Matthew 5:8 – “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.”

️ Mini Homily Reflection:
God made you to be a saint. Heaven is your true home.

Ask:

What would it mean for you to live like a saint today?

Activity:
Draw a picture of yourself with a halo. Write: “God made me to be a saint.”

Day 5 – Celebrating All Saints

Say aloud:
On All Saints’ Day we go to Mass to honour all the saints and to ask their prayers. They show us that holiness is possible for everyone.

CCC 2013 – “All Christians are called to the fullness of Christian life and the perfection of charity.”

️ Mini Homily Reflection:
The saints are proof that God’s grace works. If they can do it, so can we.

Ask:

Will you ask God to help you become a saint this week?

Weekend Wrap-Up – What We Learned

All Saints’ Day celebrates everyone in heaven.

Saints were ordinary people who lived extraordinary holiness.

Saints pray for us and cheer us on.

We are called to be saints too.

Reflection prompts:

Who is your favourite saint and why?

How can you live like them this week?

Prayer Prompt or Journal Space

“Dear Jesus, help me become a saint by…”

Encourage the child to draw or write.

Apologetics for Parents

Q: Why honour all saints?
→ Because the saints are one family in Christ, and we thank God for their example and intercession.

Q: Can saints really hear us?
→ Yes. They are alive with Christ (Mk 12:27) and united to us in the communion of saints (CCC 957).

Q: Isn’t sainthood only for a few?
→ No. The Church teaches that holiness is the destiny of every baptised person.

Catechism Extension

CCC 946–962 – The communion of saints.

CCC 2013–2015 – Universal call to holiness.

CCC 957 – Saints’ intercession.
