Parent/Guardian/Catechist

October Week 5 (2025)
Theme: Saints & Holiness
Focus: Heaven — Our True Home: The Communion of Saints in Glory
Audience: Children (Ages 7+, First Holy Communion Prep)

Weekly Goal

The child learns that heaven is our true home, where all the saints live with Jesus forever.
They understand that being a saint means being close to God — and that every act of love on earth helps prepare us for heaven.

What You’ll Need

This sheet

A children’s Bible

Paper and crayons

Candle or prayer corner

Opening Prayer (Say Daily)

Dear Jesus,
Heaven is where You live with all the saints.
I want to love You so I can be with You forever.
Help me to follow You every day
and keep my heart ready for heaven.
Amen.

Day 1 – What Is Heaven?

Say aloud:
Heaven is where God lives and where everyone who loves Him is perfectly happy forever.
It’s not just a faraway place — it’s a promise. When we live with love and faith, heaven begins in our hearts even now.

John 14:2–3 – “In My Father’s house there are many rooms… I go to prepare a place for you.”

Mini Homily Reflection:
Jesus wants us with Him. Heaven is God’s home — and He wants to share it with His children.

Ask:

What do you think heaven looks like?

Who do you hope to see there?

Practice:
Draw a picture of heaven — fill it with light, love, and the people you want to be with Jesus.

Day 2 – The Saints in Heaven

Say aloud:
The saints are people who loved God with all their hearts. Some were famous, like St Francis or St Thérèse. Some were quiet, like grandparents who prayed and loved others.
They are all alive in heaven, praying for us!

Revelation 7:9–10 – “A great crowd from every nation stood before the throne and before the Lamb.”

Mini Homily Reflection:
Heaven is not empty — it’s full of family! The saints are cheering us on like teammates in a great race.

Ask:

Who is your favourite saint?

How can you be like that saint today?

Practice:
Say:

“All you saints of God — pray for us!”
Light a candle for your favourite saint in your prayer corner.

Day 3 – Holiness on Earth Leads to Heaven

Say aloud:
Every day we can grow a little more like the saints.
When we pray, forgive, and help others, we become more like Jesus — and that brings heaven closer.

Matthew 5:8 – “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.”

Mini Homily Reflection:
Being holy doesn’t mean being perfect — it means letting Jesus love through you.

Ask:

When did you do something kind or forgiving this week?

Do you think Jesus smiled when you did that?

Practice:
At bedtime, thank God for one thing you did that brought love into the world.

Day 4 – The Mass and Heaven

Say aloud:
At every Mass, heaven and earth come together!
When the priest celebrates the Eucharist, we join the angels and saints in praising God.

Revelation 4:8 – “They never stop saying, ‘Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord God Almighty!’”

Mini Homily Reflection:
When you hear the words “Holy, Holy, Holy” at Mass, remember: you are singing with the angels and saints.

Ask:

How can you pay special attention at that part of Mass?

What does it mean that heaven joins us during Mass?

Practice:
At Mass this weekend, listen for the “Holy, Holy, Holy” and imagine all heaven singing with you.

Day 5 – Living for Heaven Every Day

Say aloud:
Heaven starts when we love God here and now. Every kind word, every prayer, every act of mercy is a step toward our true home.

Philippians 3:20 – “Our citizenship is in heaven.”

Mini Homily Reflection:
You belong to heaven — even now. Jesus is leading you there through every moment of love and goodness.

Ask:

What is one way I can make my home more like heaven?

Who can I love better this week?

Practice:
Pray together before bed:

“Jesus, thank You for preparing heaven for us. Help us live with love so we can be ready for You.”

Prayer Prompt or Journal Space

Encourage the child to draw themselves walking toward Jesus with the saints in a bright heaven.

Apologetics for Parents

Q: Do children really need to think about heaven?
→ Yes. Heaven gives purpose to everything we do. When children know that love leads to heaven, holiness feels joyful, not heavy.

Q: Why talk about saints so much?
→ Because they show that holiness is possible — they’re proof that love wins.

Q: Isn’t heaven just “nice people being happy”?
→ Heaven is far more — it’s living in the light of God’s love forever, seeing Him face to face.
