Just Teach Sheets Teens October Week 1

Teen Track – Just Teach Sheet

October Week 1
Theme: Saints & Holiness
Audience: Teens (13–18) – Faith Formation / Confirmation Prep
Focus: Saints were ordinary people who lived extraordinary holiness. They show us that holiness is possible today, even as teenagers.

Weekly Goal

Teens learn that sainthood is not a distant idea but their true vocation. Saints model courage, prayer, sacrifice, and witness — all of which teens are called to live now.

Opening Prayer (Daily)

Lord Jesus,
You gave us the saints as examples of holiness.
Give me courage to live like them,
to stand firm in faith,
and to seek holiness in prayer, service, and love.
Amen.

Day 1 – Saints Were Ordinary Like Us

Teaching:
Saints were not born with halos. They struggled, sinned, and faced temptations — but they chose Christ.

Romans 7:19 – “For I do not do the good I want, but the evil I do not want is what I do.”

️ Reflection:
Holiness is not about being flawless, but about getting up every time we fall and choosing Christ again.

Ask yourself:

Do I believe I could be a saint?

What sins or struggles hold me back from holiness?

Day 2 – Saints Loved Prayer and the Sacraments

Teaching:
The saints always prayed. They drew strength from daily prayer, Confession, and the Eucharist.

John 15:5 – “Apart from Me you can do nothing.”

Example:

St. Dominic prayed through the Rosary.

St. John Paul II spent hours before the Blessed Sacrament.

️ Reflection:
Prayer is the oxygen of holiness. Without it, faith suffocates.

Challenge:
Spend 10 minutes in silence before God today.

Day 3 – Saints Were Courageous Witnesses

Teaching:
Many saints were teenagers who stood firm in faith against pressure.

Examples:

St. Agnes (12) refused to give up her purity.

Bl. Carlo Acutis (15) used the internet to spread Eucharistic miracles.

2 Timothy 1:7 – “God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.”

️ Reflection:
If they could live for Christ as teens, so can you.

Ask yourself:

Where do I feel pressure to hide my Catholic faith?

How can I witness courageously this week?

Day 4 – Saints Loved and Served Others

Teaching:
Holiness is not just about prayer but about love in action.

1 John 3:18 – “Let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.”

Examples:

St. Vincent de Paul served the poor.

St. Therese of Lisieux showed love in small daily acts.

️ Reflection:
Every act of kindness can be holy when done for God.

Challenge:
Do one hidden act of kindness today without seeking thanks.

Day 5 – You Are Called to Be a Saint

Teaching:
The Church does not only canonise saints. She teaches that every Catholic is called to holiness.

Matthew 5:48 – “Be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.”
CCC 2013 – “All Christians in any state or walk of life are called to the fullness of Christian life and to the perfection of charity.”

️ Reflection:
Your true vocation is sainthood. Anything less is too small.

Ask yourself:

What kind of saint do I want to be?

What step can I take toward holiness this week?

Weekend Wrap-Up – Holiness is Possible

Saints were ordinary people.

Prayer and sacraments fuel holiness.

Saints show courage in witness.

Love in action is holiness.

We are all called to be saints.

Reflection prompts:

Which saint inspires me most?

How will I imitate them this week?

✍️ Journal Prompts

“If I lived like a saint today, I would…”

“The saint I feel closest to is…”

“One step I will take toward holiness is…”

Apologetics for Teens

“Saints are only for holy priests or nuns.”
→ Wrong. Saints came from every walk of life — farmers, soldiers, kings, children, and teenagers.

“Saints are dead, why talk to them?”
→ Saints are alive in Christ. Jesus said, “He is God not of the dead, but of the living” (Mark 12:27).

“It’s impossible to be holy today.”
→ God’s grace is stronger than today’s temptations. Saints like Carlo Acutis prove holiness is possible now.

Catechism Extension

CCC 946–948 – Communion of Saints.

CCC 828 – Saints are models of holiness.

CCC 2013–2014 – The universal call to holiness.
