MONDAY 23 FEBRUARY – Loving Others Like Jesus

Christ Hidden in the Neighbour

Reflection
Jesus identifies Himself with those in need:
“I was hungry… I was a stranger… I was sick.”

This is not poetic exaggeration.
It is a theological claim: Christ chooses to be encountered in the vulnerable.

Love of God cannot be separated from love of neighbour.
The commandment to worship becomes empty if it does not reshape how we treat others.

The poor are not merely recipients of charity;
they are places of encounter with Christ.

Discipleship therefore becomes concrete:
faith must take flesh in action.

Scripture
Matthew 25:31–46

Questions
Whom do I find hardest to notice?
Where might Christ be asking to be loved through my actions?

Prayer
Lord,
open my eyes to see You
in those I am tempted to pass by.
Amen.

TUESDAY 24 FEBRUARY – God’s Word Changes Us

The Word That Creates What It Commands

Reflection
God’s word in Scripture is not only information.
It is performative: it does what it says.

The prophets describe it as rain that makes the earth fruitful.
Jesus describes it as seed that produces a harvest.

If the Word does not change us,
it is not because it is weak
but because it has been resisted.

To listen to Scripture is to accept transformation.
Obedience is not an addition to faith;
it is faith made visible.

Scripture
Isaiah 55:10–11
Matthew 13:1–9

Questions
Do I approach Scripture as instruction or as invitation to change?
What part of God’s Word have I been avoiding?

Prayer
Lord,
let Your Word
shape my life
and not merely inform it.
Amen.

WEDNESDAY 25 FEBRUARY – Turning Back to God

Mercy Greater Than Judgment

Reflection
Nineveh’s repentance is brief but sincere.
And God’s response is immediate mercy.

The story of Jonah reveals a truth we resist:
God desires conversion, not destruction.

Repentance is not self-condemnation.
It is truth-telling before God.

The Church’s call to repentance is not pessimism about human nature
but confidence in divine mercy.

We do not return to God because we are worthy.
We return because He is faithful.

Scripture
Jonah 3:1–10

Questions
What keeps me from turning back fully to God?
Do I believe more in my failure or in God’s mercy?

Prayer
Lord,
draw me back to You
with the strength of Your mercy.
Amen.

THURSDAY 26 FEBRUARY – Asking God for Help

Prayer in the Face of Fear

Reflection
Queen Esther’s prayer is not confident self-assurance.
It is humble dependence.

She stands between danger and promise
with no power of her own
except trust in God.

Prayer does not remove risk.
It redefines it.

To pray is not to escape responsibility
but to place it within God’s providence.

Christian courage is not fearlessness.
It is fear entrusted to God.

Scripture
Esther 4:17
Matthew 7:7–11

Questions
Where do I rely more on strategy than on prayer?
What fear do I need to place before God?

Prayer
Lord,
teach me to trust You
when I do not control outcomes.
Amen.

FRIDAY 27 FEBRUARY – Choosing to Love

Reconciliation Before Sacrifice

Reflection
Jesus links worship with relationships:
true offering requires a reconciled heart.

Religion that ignores broken relationships
becomes a performance.

Reconciliation is not weakness.
It is obedience.

To forgive is not to erase the past
but to refuse its control over the present.

Peace is not sentiment;
it is costly grace.

Scripture
Matthew 5:20–26

Questions
Whom have I avoided reconciling with?
What would one step toward peace look like?

Prayer
Lord,
make me an instrument
of Your reconciliation.
Amen.

SATURDAY 28 FEBRUARY – Loving Everyone

Love That Reflects the Father

Reflection
Jesus calls His disciples to love without calculation:
friends and enemies alike.

This love is not natural affection.
It is participation in the Father’s mercy.

God’s love is not selective.
It is generous.

To love enemies does not mean approving evil.
It means refusing to become its mirror.

This commandment reveals the measure of holiness:
likeness to God Himself.

Scripture
Matthew 5:43–48

Questions
Where is my love still conditional?
What would it mean to love as God loves?

Prayer
Father,
shape my heart
according to Your mercy.
Amen.

SUNDAY 1 MARCH – Second Sunday of Lent

Listening to the Beloved Son

Reflection
On the mountain, the disciples glimpse Christ’s glory.
But the Father does not say, “Look at Him.”
He says, “Listen to Him.”

Revelation is not meant to detain us in wonder
but to direct us in obedience.

The descent from the mountain is part of the mystery:
glory is given to strengthen faith for the journey.

To listen to Christ is to accept His path:
cross as well as light,
suffering as well as promise.

The Transfiguration prepares us for Lent’s work:
faith that can endure descent.

Scripture
Matthew 17:1–9

Questions
Do I seek God mainly in extraordinary moments?
How do I listen to Christ in ordinary life?

Prayer
Lord,
teach me to listen to You
in glory and in shadow.
Amen.
