Weekly Faith Formation – Teens – 9-15 February

TEEN DAILY FAITH

Week of 9–15 February

How to use this:
Spend 5–10 minutes a day.
Read slowly.
Answer one question.
End with the prayer.

MONDAY 9 FEBRUARY – The God Who Dwells Among His People

God Is Not Far Away

Reflection
In the Old Testament, God lived in the Temple, hidden by cloud and darkness.
In the Gospel, Jesus goes out to villages and towns. People touch Him and are healed.

This shows something new:
God is no longer locked in one place.
He walks among His people.

Faith is not just about going to church.
It is about recognising that God chooses to be close to us.

Christianity is not about reaching up to God.
It is about God coming down to us.

Scripture
“The Word became flesh and dwelt among us.” (John 1:14)

Think about it
Where do I expect to meet God?
Do I notice Him in ordinary life?

Action
Say today: “Jesus, You are near me.”

Prayer
Lord,
teach me to recognise You
where I am.
Amen.

TUESDAY 10 FEBRUARY – Saint Scholastica

Prayer That Comes from Love

Who was Saint Scholastica?
She lived in Italy in the 500s and was the sister of St Benedict.
She lived a hidden life of prayer and once prayed so deeply that God sent a storm to keep her brother with her longer.
The Church says her prayer was heard because her love was greater.

Reflection
The Bible warns against religion that is only on the outside.
Ritual without love becomes empty.

Scholastica shows that prayer is not about controlling God.
It is about trusting Him.

Rules are meant to lead us to God, not replace Him.

Scripture
“This people honours me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.” (Mark 7:6)

Think about it
Do I pray from habit or from desire?
What would honest prayer sound like for me?

Action
Speak to God today without using set words.

Prayer
Lord,
teach me to pray
with a real heart.
Amen.

WEDNESDAY 11 FEBRUARY – Our Lady of Lourdes

Healing Begins Inside

Who was Bernadette?
She was a poor teenager in France in 1858 who saw Mary at Lourdes.
Mary asked her to pray and do penance.
Many people later experienced healing there.

Reflection
Jesus says that what makes us unclean comes from the heart:
anger, pride, jealousy, lies.

Mary at Lourdes did not promise everyone would be cured.
She called people to conversion.

Real healing is not just physical.
It is becoming whole again inside.

Scripture
“From within, out of the heart, come evil thoughts.” (Mark 7:21)

Think about it
What hurts my heart most: pain… or sin?
What do I need Jesus to heal in me?

Action
Ask Jesus quietly for one kind of healing today.

Prayer
Mary,
lead me to your Son
who heals hearts.
Amen.

THURSDAY 12 FEBRUARY – A Divided Heart and a Persistent Faith

Whole or Half?

Reflection
Solomon did not suddenly stop believing in God.
He slowly let other things matter more.

In the Gospel, a foreign woman trusts Jesus completely.
She risks embarrassment and rejection.

One heart becomes divided.
The other becomes whole.

God does not want part of us.
He wants all of us.

Scripture
“Love the Lord your God with all your heart.” (Mark 12:30)

Think about it
What pulls my heart away from God?
Where am I tempted to compromise?

Action
Give God one thing today that you usually keep for yourself.

Prayer
Lord,
give me an undivided heart.
Amen.

FRIDAY 13 FEBRUARY – From Division to Restoration

Be Opened

Reflection
Israel was divided because hearts were divided.

In the Gospel, Jesus heals a man who cannot hear or speak properly.
He touches him and says, “Be opened.”

This is more than a miracle.
It is a sign of what Jesus wants to do to us.

Sin closes us in.
Grace opens us again.

Scripture
“Ephphatha — be opened.” (Mark 7:34)

Think about it
Where am I closed: to God, to others, to truth?
What would it mean to open that place?

Action
Listen carefully to one person today without interrupting.

Prayer
Jesus,
open my ears and my heart.
Amen.

SATURDAY 14 FEBRUARY – Saints Cyril and Methodius

Faith for Every People

Who were they?
They were brothers and missionaries in Eastern Europe in the 800s.
They invented an alphabet and translated the Bible so people could understand it.

Reflection
The Gospel is not for one culture or one type of person.
It is for everyone.

Cyril and Methodius did not change the Gospel.
They changed the language so people could hear it.

Faith must be shared, not kept private.

Scripture
“Go and make disciples of all nations.” (Matthew 28:19)

Think about it
Do I treat faith as something private?
How can I make it visible in my life?

Action
Do one thing today that shows you belong to Christ.

Prayer
Lord,
help me live my faith
so others can see it.
Amen.

SUNDAY 15 FEBRUARY – Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time

The Law Written on the Heart

Reflection
Jesus does not just care about what we do.
He cares about what we desire.

Anger matters.
Lust matters.
Words matter.

God is not trying to trap us.
He is trying to make us whole.

Holiness is not about rule-keeping.
It is about becoming true.

Scripture
“Choose life.” (Sirach 15:17)

Think about it
What kind of person am I becoming?
Where does God want to change me?

Action
Make one choice today that leads toward life.

Prayer
Lord,
change my heart
so my life can change.
Amen.
