Intercessions, Pentecost, 24th May

Priest: Brothers and sisters,
on this great feast of Pentecost, let us pray with confidence to the Father, asking Him to renew His Church and fill the world with the fire of the Holy Spirit.

Reader: For the holy Catholic Church:
that filled anew with the gifts of the Holy Spirit, she may boldly proclaim Christ to every nation and lead souls into the truth of the Gospel.
Lord, hear us.

Reader: For our Holy Father, our bishops, priests, and deacons:
that strengthened by the Spirit of wisdom and courage, they may faithfully shepherd the people of God in holiness and truth.
Lord, hear us.

Reader: For peace in the world:
that the Holy Spirit may heal division, soften hardened hearts, and guide nations away from violence, hatred, and injustice.
Lord, hear us.

Reader: For those who feel weary, anxious, or spiritually distant:
that the living fire of the Holy Spirit may renew their hearts with hope, faith, and the peace of Christ.
Lord, hear us.

Reader: For those preparing to receive the sacraments, especially Baptism and Confirmation:
that they may be filled with the gifts of the Holy Spirit and grow strong in the life of the Church.
Lord, hear us.

Reader: For our parish community:
that gathered as one Body in Christ, we may use the gifts God has given us to serve one another with charity and joy.
Lord, hear us.

Reader: For the faithful departed:
that purified of sin and welcomed by the mercy of God, they may rejoice forever in the glory of heaven.
Lord, hear us.

Reader: Let us now pause and offer in silence the prayers we hold in our hearts.
(silent prayer)

Reader: Let us ask the intercession of Our Lady, Spouse of the Holy Spirit. Hail Mary…

Priest: Father, pour out the Holy Spirit upon Your Church
and hear the prayers we bring before You.
Renew us in faith, hope, and charity,
through Christ our Lord.
