Priest: Brothers and sisters, trusting in Christ who comes to us in every storm and says, “Take heart; it is I; do not be afraid,” let us bring our prayers before Him.
Reader:
For the Holy Church of God: that, though battered by the storms of the world, she may remain faithful to Christ and lead all people safely towards the harbour of salvation.
Lord, hear us.
For the Holy Father, our bishops, priests and deacons: that they may listen attentively to the quiet voice of God and speak His truth with courage and charity.
Lord, hear us.
For nations troubled by war, violence and division: that Christ, who calmed the wind and the sea, may bring peace where there is fear, hatred and suffering.
Lord, hear us.
For those whose faith is weak or troubled: that, like St Peter, they may call upon the Lord and know the saving power of His outstretched hand.
Lord, hear us.
For all who feel overwhelmed by illness, bereavement, loneliness or anxiety: that they may recognise Christ drawing near to them and hear His words, “Do not be afraid.”
Lord, hear us.
For our homes and our parish community: that we may make time for silence, listen for the voice of God, and keep our eyes fixed upon Christ.
Lord, hear us.
For those who have died: that Christ may bring them safely through the waters of death into the peace and joy of His eternal Kingdom.
Lord, hear us.
Let us entrust to God the prayers we hold in the silence of our hearts.
Silence
We ask Mary, Star of the Sea, to pray with us:
Hail Mary…
Priest:
Almighty and eternal God,
You come to Your people in gentleness
and stretch out Your hand to save us.
Hear the prayers we offer in faith,
strengthen us in every trial,
and keep our eyes fixed upon Your Son,
who lives and reigns for ever and ever.
Amen.
