Intercessions, 16th Sunday of Ordinary Time, 19th July

Priest: Brothers and sisters, God is rich in mercy and patient with His children, giving us time to repent and grow in holiness. Trusting in His goodness, let us bring our prayers before Him.

Reader: For the holy Catholic Church:
that she may faithfully proclaim the Gospel, patiently nurture the seeds of faith, and lead many souls to the kingdom of God.
Lord, hear us.

Reader: For Pope Leo, Bishop Patrick, priests, deacons, and all who serve the Church:
that they may be wise and faithful shepherds, guiding God’s people with truth, charity, and hope.
Lord, hear us.

Reader: For our nation and all who hold public office:
that they may govern with justice, integrity, and respect for the dignity of every human person.
Lord, hear us.

Reader: For those who have drifted away from the practice of the faith, and for all whose hearts have become hardened to God’s grace:
that the Lord, in His mercy, may lead them to repentance and renewed friendship with Him.
Lord, hear us.

Reader: For parents, grandparents, teachers, and catechists:
that they may faithfully sow the seeds of faith in the hearts of the young and patiently help them grow in love of Christ.
Lord, hear us.

Reader: For those struggling with sin, addiction, or discouragement:
that they may never lose hope in God’s mercy and may find strength through the grace of the Holy Spirit.
Lord, hear us.

Reader: For the sick, the housebound, and all who suffer in body, mind, or spirit:
that Christ may bring them healing, peace, and comfort.
Lord, hear us.

Reader: For the faithful departed:
that they may be gathered into the eternal harvest of God’s kingdom and rejoice forever in His presence.
Lord, hear us.

Reader: Let us now offer our own prayers in silence. (pause)

Reader: Let us ask the prayers of Our Lady, Help of Christians.

Priest: Heavenly Father, you are patient and merciful, desiring that all people come to salvation. Hear the prayers we offer with confidence and grant them according to your holy will. Through Christ our Lord.
