Intercessions, 15th Sunday of Ordinary Time, 12th July

Priest: Brothers and sisters, the Lord’s word never returns to Him empty but accomplishes His saving purpose. Trusting in His goodness and mercy, let us bring our prayers before Him.

Reader: For the holy Catholic Church:
that she may faithfully sow the seed of God’s word throughout the world and bear abundant fruit in holiness and charity.
Lord, hear us.

Reader: For Pope Leo, Bishop Patrick, priests, deacons, and all who preach the Gospel:
that they may proclaim God’s word with wisdom, courage, and fidelity.
Lord, hear us.

Reader: For our nation and all who exercise authority:
that they may govern with justice, integrity, and a sincere concern for the common good.
Lord, hear us.

Reader: For those whose hearts have become hardened to the Gospel, and for all who have drifted away from the practice of the faith:
that the Lord may soften their hearts and draw them back to Himself.
Lord, hear us.

Reader: For parents, grandparents, teachers, and catechists:
that they may faithfully plant the seeds of faith in the hearts of the young and nurture them with patience and love.
Lord, hear us.

Reader: For farmers, gardeners, and all who work the land:
that God may bless their labours and grant favourable weather and fruitful harvests.
Lord, hear us.

Reader: For the sick, the housebound, and all who suffer in body, mind, or spirit:
that Christ may strengthen them with His grace and fill them with hope and peace.
Lord, hear us.

Reader: For the faithful departed:
that they may share in the glory promised to those who have remained faithful to Christ.
Lord, hear us.

Reader: Let us now offer our own prayers in silence. (pause)

Reader: Let us ask the prayers of Our Lady, Help of Christians.
All: Hail Mary…

Priest: Heavenly Father, your word is living and effective, bringing life wherever it is received. Hear the prayers we offer with confidence and grant them according to your holy will. Through Christ our Lord.
