Intercessions, 20th September, 25th Sunday of Ordinary Time

Priest: Brothers and sisters, trusting in the generosity of God, who continually calls people into His vineyard and desires to give us the fullness of life in Christ, let us bring before Him the needs of the Church and of the world.

Reader: For the holy Catholic Church, that she may proclaim the Gospel with confidence and joy, inviting all people to discover the beauty of knowing Jesus Christ and the eternal life He offers.
Lord, hear us.

For our Holy Father, Pope Leo, for Bishop Patrick, and for all bishops, priests and deacons, that they may faithfully preach Christ, encourage those who labour in the vineyard, and never cease seeking those who are still waiting to hear His call.
Lord, hear us.

On this Home Mission Sunday, for the work of evangelisation throughout England and Wales, that Catholics may have the courage to speak naturally of their faith, to invite others to Christ, and to make our homes, parishes and communities places where people can encounter Him.
Lord, hear us.

For those who have never known Christ, those who are searching for meaning, and those who have drifted from the practice of the faith, that they may hear the Lord’s invitation, “You go into my vineyard too,” and discover that it is never too late to return to Him.
Lord, hear us.

For parents, families, teachers, catechists and all who hand on the faith, that their words and example may help a new generation to know that life with Christ is not a burden but a gift, and that we were made for friendship with God.
Lord, hear us.

For those who struggle with jealousy, comparison or discouragement, that they may recognise the generosity of God, rejoice in the blessings given to others, and grow in gratitude for the graces they themselves have received.
Lord, hear us.

For the sick, the lonely, the unemployed, and all who feel forgotten or overlooked, that they may know that no one is forgotten by God, and that Christ continues to call each person by name into His Kingdom.
Lord, hear us.

For our relatives, friends and benefactors who have died, and for all the faithful departed, that the Lord whom they served in this life may cleanse them from every sin and grant them the eternal reward of seeing Him face to face.
Lord, hear us.

For a few moments, let us pray silently for those whom we especially long to see come closer to Christ, and for the intentions we carry in our hearts.

Silence.

Let us ask the prayers of Our Lady, Queen of Apostles, that we too may bring others to her Son, as together we say: Hail Mary, full of grace…

Priest: God our Father, your thoughts are higher than our thoughts and your generosity exceeds all that we deserve. Hear the prayers we offer. Give us grateful hearts for the gift of faith, make us joyful witnesses to your Son, and draw into your vineyard all who seek truth, hope and eternal life.
Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
