Intercessions, 29th Sunday of Ordinary Time, 18th October

Priest:
Brothers and sisters, knowing that all authority and every good gift come from God, let us place before Him the needs of the Church and of the world.

Reader:

For the holy Catholic Church, for Pope Leo, Bishop Patrick, and all bishops, priests and deacons: that they may proclaim the Gospel with courage and help God’s people give to Him the worship, obedience and holiness that are His due.
Lord, hear us.

For those who govern nations and exercise public authority: that they may serve the common good with justice, respect the dignity of every human person, and recognise that all earthly authority is accountable to God.
Lord, hear us.

For our parish and for all Christians living and working in the world: that our faith may be shown in lives of charity, integrity and hope, and that we may never allow the things of this world to take the place that belongs to God alone.
Lord, hear us.

For the sick, the anxious, the lonely, the poor, and all who carry heavy burdens: that the Lord may strengthen them, surround them with compassionate care, and give them the peace that comes from knowing that they belong to Christ.
Lord, hear us.

For our deceased relatives, friends and benefactors, and for all the faithful departed: that, purified from every sin, they may enter the eternal Kingdom where Christ reigns for ever.
Lord, hear us.

Priest:
In silence, we bring before God the prayers and intentions of our own hearts.

Silence.

Let us ask the prayers of Our Blessed Lady as we say together:

Hail Mary…

Priest:
Almighty and eternal God, all things are subject to Your providence and every good gift comes from Your hand. Hear the prayers we place before You; keep us faithful to Christ in the duties of this life, and bring us at last to the joy of Your eternal Kingdom. Through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
